Gazipur: On behalf of H.E. Dr. Yousef bin Ahmad Al-Othaimeen, Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and Chancellor of Islamic University of Technology (IUT), Dr. Omar Jah, Acting Vice-Chancellor of IUT, hosted an Iftar Party on 23rd Ramadan corresponding to 29 May 2019 on the campus of the University at Board Bazar, Gazipur.
The event was attended, among others, by the students of the local orphanages, members of the neighborhood, officials of local educational and financial institutions as well as those of government and media. A good number of the management, faculty, staffs and students also attended the programme in an atmosphere of due religious fervour and festivity.
The Iftar started with the offering of Doa seeking divine mercy and forgiveness for the Ummah. The progress, peace and prosperity of the humanity in general and for the unity of the member states of the OIC in particular was also sought from Allah (SWT).
Welcoming the invitees, Dr. Omar Jah, Acting Vice-Chancellor, IUT, highlighted the historical background of establishing the IUT. He said that IUT is a subsidiary organ of the 57-nation Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) where students from different member states representing Arab, African and Asian regions of the OIC are studying and are bound by the common faith of Islam.
Dr. Jah also mentioned that the University is blessed with multicultural and multilingual environment and the students are imbued with the values and spirits of Islam bearing eloquent testimony to the prevalence of Islamic fraternity and solidarity on the campus.
Dr. Jah concluded by thanking the guests particularly the local officials whose support for IUT has created a conducive environment for the University.
