grambangla Online Desk dhaka:Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested an alleged drug peddler in possession of 217 kilograms of hemp worth Tk 25 lakh from Keshail village in Badalgachi upazila on Tuesday.
The arrestee was identified as Hafizur Rahman,40, son of Abdul Majid, a resident of the village.
Additional superintendent of police Al Mamun Shikder, commanding officer of Rab-5, said tipped off, a team of the elite force conducted a raid on the house of drug peddlers Hafizur Rahman and Pintu Sarder in the area in the morning.
Later, the elite force arrested Hafizur while Pintu managed to flee the scene.
Rab members also recovered 217 kilograms of hemp from their houses.
A case was filed with Badalgachi Police Station.
