The dead body of four-year-old boy Jihad, who allegedly fell into the well shaft in capital’s Shahjahanpur area yesterday, has been recovered.
A youth named Masudul Alam of the area pulled the body out from the abandoned water pipe on Saturday noon after the fire service postponed rescue opertion.
After pulling out, the body of Jihad was immediately taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) and the duty doctors confirmed his dead.
Earlier, the fire service postponed rescue opertion saying that they found no existence of any human being in the well shaft.
Rescuers had sent a camera twice at the bottom of the abandoned well shaft at night, but they could not get a sight of the boy, the fire service said.
The fire brigade personnel employed various techniques one after another, including lowering in a sack tied with a rope, hoping to pull out the boy but failed at night.
The family members, however, of the four-year-old boy at that time also claimed that Jihad was inside the pipe.
Jihad, son of Nasir Uddin of the railway colony, suddenly slipped into the deep pipe around 4:30 pm on Friday while playing near the abandoned pump house.
