Bangladesh Railway authorities have suspended an official on charge of negligence in duties following the falling of a four-year-old child into a 400-foot hole in capital’s Railway Colony.
The suspended official is Jahangir Alam, senior sub assistant engineer of Bangladesh Railway.
The railway authorities also black listed contractor company ‘AR Traders’.
Tofazzol Hossain, director general of Bangladesh Railway, told the Dhaka Tribune that the railway approved pipeline at the colony went out of order a couple of months ago. “Later, another pipeline was dug and the tender was given to AR Traders and Jahangir Alam was the caretaker of the work.”
“The pipeline was covered initially. The contractor company removed it for the sake of their work in the second pipeline but they kept it uncovered,” he added.
A four-year-old boy has fallen into a ‘400-foot’ deep abandoned hole in Shahjahanpur Railway Colony area in the capital on Friday afternoon.
The fire service and civil defence was trying to rescue the child till filling of the report at 11pm.
