DSE, CSE down at opening

stockThe Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) saw downward trend in early hours of trading on Wednesday, maintaining the previous session’s negative trend. DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went down by 13.11 points or 0.26 per cent to 4,865.53 after the 1st 30 minutes of trade when the report was filed at 11am. The other 2 indices saw negative trend. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, lost 2.21 points or 0.12 per cent to 1,802.23. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) dropped 0.68 points or 0.05 per cent to stand at 1,146.65 points. DSE turnover stood at Tk 146 million when the report was filed at 11am.

Of the issues traded till then, 60 advanced, 123 declined and 37 remained unchanged. Agni System was the most traded stocks with shares worth Tk 19m changing hands till then followed by Fu-wang Food, Summit Alliance Port, Western Marine Shipyard and Lafarge Surma Cement. The port city bourse – CSE – also saw negative trend in early hours of trading with its Selective Category Index – CSCX – losing 0.37 points to 9,152.38, also at 11am. Of the issues traded till then, 32 gained, 64 declined and 14 remained unchanged with a turnover value of Tk 16m.
