A dawn-to-dusk hartal in Gazipur enforced by the BNP-led 20-party alliance protesting the ban on the party chief Khaleda Zia’s rally in the city is underway in a relaxed manner.
No picketing was seen during the hours of the hartal till filing this report at 10:20am, reports that from the source.
Starting since 6:00am the hartal will continue till 6:00pm today.
Additional deployment of police was seen through all key points in the district.
Five platoons of Bangladesh Border Guard were also deployed, Harun-ur-Rashid, superintendent of police in Gazipur told our correspondent.
