Judge Anwar Sadat of Dhaka’s Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court dropped the case on Wednesday after the complainant remained absent in five hearings , said defence lawyer Jainal Abedin Mesbah.
Fakhrul described former junior Law Minister Qamrul Islam as ‘mentally sick’ and ‘crazy’ at a discussion in the National Press Club in July, 2010.
Bangabandhu Foundation President Lawyer Abdul Malek filed the case against Fakhrul .
The BNP leader appeared in court on Wednesday and his lawyers appealed for acquittal in the case.
